Grain Stories humbly boasts a well-equipped, in-house laboratory to give the best quality and genuine organic products to its consumers. Our lab facilities are capable of:

1)    Moisture Content Test: This test involves the amount of moisture content and the concentration of moisture by measuring qualitatively and quantitatively. Moisture content analysis is important in determining the shelf life of foods and products. Moisture content influences the taste, texture, weight, appearance.

2)    Ash Determination Test: This test involves burning the water and organic content of food in the presence of oxidizing agents. Ash is inorganic residue. To assess the quality of the material, it is very important to assess the presence of inorganic components.

3)    Determination of Foreign Content: This test involves the determination of Foreign matter other than food grains comprising of inorganic matter consisting of metallic pieces, sand, gravel, dirt, pebbles, stones, lumps of earth, clay and mud, animal filth; organic matter consisting of husk, straws, weed seeds and other inedible grains; and poisonous, toxic and/or harmful seeds.

4)    Mineral determination Test: This test helps in determining the amount and type of minerals in food. This test helps in analysing the physiochemical properties of food as well as the retarded growth of microorganisms. Therefore, mineral content is a vital component in a food’s nutrition, quality and, like water, microbial viability.

5)    Determination of formation of Eggs: Larvae and Pupae are visible to the naked eye. It is very difficult to distinguish between the flours and eggs. This test helps in differentiating.

6)    Determination of Aflatoxins: This test helps in detecting Aflatoxins. Aflatoxins are nothing but poisonous carcinogens that are produced by certain molds which grow in soil, decaying vegetation, hay, and grains.

7)    Identification of Weevilled Grains/Damaged grains: This test helps in identifying the weevilled grains and damaged grains. Weevilled grains are kernels that are partially or wholly bored by insects injurious to grains but does not include germ eaten grains and egg spotted grains. Kernels or pieces of kernels that are sprouted or internally damaged as a result of heat, microbe, moisture or weather.
